Born in Port Au Prince, Haiti, JPLovesIt fell in love with distinctive Haitian music such as Konpa. Her family also immersed her in a diverse array of genres, such as Salsa, Bolero, and zouk, to mention but a few.

One of the artist’s main inspirations in her career is the people around her that doubted her talent, skill, and motivation. She always had supportive friends and family that encouraged her to come out of her shell and explore into her natural ability. Now, she is proving the naysayers wrong. Q:When you decide it’s time to make a new record, is that more exciting or stressful?

Ans: Not really stressful or exciting, when I write it’s usually a form of venting which is why my lyrics are usually simple and straight to the point.The excitement comes when I find the perfect beat to match the tone of my music.

Q: How do you shut things out?

Ans: Sometimes I meditate other times I listen to old-school Haitian music that reminds me of a simpler time.

Q: How easily do songs tend to come to you?

Ans : Good question I wish I had an answer for you. Songs come to me often but I can’t say that they come easy.

Q: You write all of your own music; where do you draw inspiration from when you write songs and what’s your favorite part about the process?

ANS: When writing, my inspiration comes from various sources; it can be an argument, a teachable moment etc. My favorite thing about that process is when I’m nearing the end of the lyrics my heart skips a beat it’s like my body letting me know how vulnerable I was with the lyrics and how frightening it might be if the outside world does not accept it.
