Midwest juggernauts Big Jaz & Jay 1Hundred linked up for a collaborative album properly titled “Up In Smoke” featuring some of the hottest artists to date. Delivering a new sound of music to a rapidly changing industry. It’s safe to say quality/ classic music is back and better than ever thanks to Machine Muzik.

Q:When you decide it’s time to make a new record, is that more exciting or stressful?

Ans: it’s exciting because we see it as a vent session. Everything we go through daily ..we release in the studio. And people just happen to appreciate our life struggles cause they going through it too.

Q:  How do you shut things out?

Ans: Just forced on my family.. money and music. Anything else is irrelevant. Period.

Q: How easily do songs tend to come to you?

Ans : extremely easy.. songs fill my brain. All day and all night. Long as I’m living life, I’ll have a new song.

Q: What’s your motto or the advice you live by?

Ans: Loyalty Over Love.. Judy because loyalty is forever and Love can be temporary.

Q: What is you favorite song to belt out at the bar/in the car?

ANs: my nigga Big Jaz Champagne Wishes.. it’s classic to me. Pure magic.

Q: For our readers who have never heard your music, explain your sound in 5 words?

Ans: It’s everyday life. Whatever I go through my music will reflect.. cause we all know life is not an everyday party. REAL-MOTIVATIONAL-GROWTH-PAIN-TRIUMPH

Q: You write all of your own music; where do you draw inspiration from when you write songs and what’s your favorite part about the proccess?

ANS: my city AKRON is my motivation. Everyday you live here you get motivation. Motivation to do better and motivation to make it out and put us on.

Q: At what age did you start making music?

ANS: I started in middle school with a tape recorder and May Festival in school.

Q:Who are your inspirations?

Ans: my mom, Big Jaz… and anyone making a positive difference in the community and world.

Q: If you could perform with anyone, in the future, who would it have to be?

Ans: imma say MYA ….lord knows I had a crush on her since middle school hahaha

Q:What is your favorite song to sing live?

Ans: my favorite song to go perform had to be “I’m Gone” and “Tahoe” with Young Lee, Big Jaz, and Dhodfi Boi. Shout out to my nigs too

Q:Do you have any events coming up or recording going on right now?

Ans: just finishing up this “Up In Smoke” album with Jaz, then start on my Loyalty Is Royalty album. Lots and lots of interviews and features on the way too.

Q:Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to sing as a career or just advice about careers in general?

Ans : never give up because in this game you’re gonna receive more NOs than YES’s.

Q: If you had a soundtrack to your life what song/songs would have to be on it?

Ans : Juvenile 400 Degrees hahaha and the Life and Times of Sean Carter II

Q:How does the conversation go when someone pitches the performance to you?

Ans: SHOOOOW MEEEEE THE MOOOONEY! haha .. I just say contact my manager. He handles that.

Q:When and why did you start playing?

ANS: after I heard All Eyez On Me ..I knew it wasn’t anything else I wanted to do for real.

Q:  Which instruments do you play?

Ans: I can play violin and trumpet but don’t..tell..noooooobody haha

Q: What was the first tune(s) you learned?

Ans: California love by Dre and Bobby Blue Bland songs

Q: Is your family musical?

Ans: extremely.. all of them. artists included too.

Q:Describe your family member’s musical interests and abilities ?

Ans: They can do it all. It’s in our blood to be the best at what we do.

Q:  Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?

Ans:  TI and Drake. Their work ethic is phenomenal.

Q:  Which famous musicians have you learned from?

Ans:Ryan Leslie, project pat and my brotha Top Dogg from Death Row

Q: Who was your first teacher? Other teachers?

Ans: fuck them teachers

Q:Describe your first instrument. Other instruments

Ans: violin.. lasted 1 month lol

Q:What are your fondest musical memories? In your house? In your neighborhood or town?

Ans: in the city fr fr.. I love my hometown. It’s no place like AKRON!

Q: Were you influenced by old records & tapes? Which ones?
Ans: anything from the 90s and early 00s.. big cash money and no limit fam

Q:  Who are your favorite musicians? Groups? CD’s?

Ans: j. cole, Ricky Rozay, Weezy, Jeezy and a few new artists too

Q:  Do you perform in public? Describe those occasions? Concerts, radio, TV?

Ans: yeah I do all that I’d perform in a barn yard if the price is right.

Q:  How do you handle mistakes during a performance?

Ans: go even harder.

Q:  Do you get nervous before a performance or a competition?

Ans: yup yup sometimes but a Dutch full of cook fixes that

Q:  What advice would you give to beginners who are nervous?

Ans: break out that shell and show the world the real you. Fuck the fake

Q:  Do you attend sessions? What makes a good session?

Ans: long late night sessions are the best. I like it to be just me and the engineer I vibe with.

Q:  How often and for how long do you practice?

Ans: everyday, most of the day. My music is life

Q: What do you practice – exercises, new tunes, hard tunes, etc.?

Ans: I just write and burn good loud packs.. that’s all I need

Q: Do you teach music?

Ans: naaaah

Q:  How do you balance your music with other obligations – mate, children, job?

Ans: just do what you gotta do. Plus I’m good at multitasking
