An Exclusive Interview With NY- Artist/Producer Jehry Robinson

Q: Your new album 20/Twenty recently came out on Strange Music. What is the story behind you signing with Strange and what has it been like becoming part of the Strange family?

Jehry – The story behind me signing with Strange is that I was up late one night seeking inspiration & came across a mini doc of Travis O’Guin & Tech N9ne. I woke Tara, my manager up and told her to get us to KC because I felt like they would understand what we were doing with our company Famous By Association (FBA). Since signing it’s been blessings on blessings and a true dream come true for us.

Q: For our readers who have not yet discovered your music, explain your sound in 5 words?

Jehry – futuristic, emotional, energetic, timeless, & real.

Q: You write and arrange all your music; where do you draw inspiration from when you write songs and what is your favorite part about the process?

Jehry – I draw inspiration from everyday life. The good, the bad, the mundane. My favorite part of the process is giving the finished product to the people.

Q: What would your dream tour line-up be?

Jehry – The Beatles, Bob Marley, Tupac & Tech N9ne

Q: Do you have a favorite song from your new album 20/Twenty and why?

The Doors “People Are Strange”

Eminem “Just Don’t Give A Fuck”

Q: What or who inspires you creatively and how?

Jehry – All the artists I’ve been around lately. Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko, King Iso, JL, & Joey Cool. They force me to elevate my skills each day. Being around greatness helps me be great.

Q:  If you could collaborate with any artist dead or alive who would it be and why?

Jehry – Bob Marley. He influenced my sound and brings amazing energy to my soul.

Q:  What is your preshow ritual?

Jehry – Rehearsing, focusing, and envisioning tearing the stage up.

Q:  What advice would you give to a young artist that you wish somebody would have given you?
