BIG KIDD (Big Kidd) is an Australian rapper that is also Croatian best known for his ‘aggressive’ and ‘ toned’ up rap style, he is from Perth, Western Australia. He has a few released songs that he is applauded for, along with his music video ‘T.W.N.M.H’ (They Were Never My Homies) that has grabbed the attention of many struggling with the same problems mentioned in this music track.
When you decide it’s time to make a new record, is that more exciting or stressful?
Answer: Most of the time I feel drained and unmotivated so yes it can be stressful, I feel like I’m doing a chore most of the time in my everyday life even when making music, but that’s because of my own problems and issues I have within my mind. I’m not going to get right into it but I’ve got a lot on my chest, I make music in hopes to get a lot of this sh** that’s on my chest off of it but if I’m being honest I make music because it sounds cool and I kinda like the attention & perks that come with it but then again it ain’t as great as it seems, sometimes I just wanna never spit a line again because I can’t stand myself.
You write all of your own music; where do you draw inspiration from when you write songs and what’s your favorite part about the process?
ANSWER: I do write all of my music on my own, no body helps me nor has ever helped me but yeah I guess I’ve grabbed a lotta the lyrics I have in certain songs from other rappers I fw, when I say grabbed I mean been inspired by them and got a bit of that style from that artist, it’s rubbed off on me and it’s like I been influenced by them. Wouldn’t say it’s copying, just inspired. My favourite part about the writing process? To be honest when it’s over, I pretty much force myself to write tracks. I want to deep down but it’s like my brain ain’t focused, I can’t think, my mind hurts. I’m fu****. I probably need some serious help.
If you could perform with anyone, in the future, who would it have to be?
ANSWER: Probably Stitches or Str8 Kash.
Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to sing as a career or just advice about careers in general?
ANSWER: Follow your dreams, do what you want. Fu** everybody else.
If you had a soundtrack to your life what song/songs would have to be on it?
ANSWER: Beautiful by Eminem and Is Happiness Just A Word? By Vinnie Paz.
Who was your first teacher?
ANSWER: haha, I can’t remember. I never even finished school. I was always too distracted. I was a failure. Still am too.
How do you handle mistakes during a performance?
ANSWER: I keep fu***** up more.
Do you get nervous before a performance or a competition?
ANSWER: yes, I get extremely nervous to where it puts me in a completely different state, I don’t feel as confident. My attitude goes, I can’t pronounce my words properly nor have my delivery on point. It’s like I’m a different person when this anxiety takes over me but deep down that raging cu** is there and really wants that beef.
What advice would you give to beginners who are nervous?
ANSWER: pop some xan’s.
How do you balance your music with other obligations – mate, children, job?
ANSWER: I don’t really, ‘how I make this money that’s none ya fu***** business’
