Q: When you decide it’s time to make a new record, is it more exciting or stressful?

Ris: It’s an absolutely exciting thing, because we still have many, many things to say and many melodies to write.

Q: How easily do songs come to your mind?

Ris: Our creative process works like this: my wife and I think about a concept on which focus our album, in the case of “Potatoes on Mars” it was the role of man in the universe and space exploration, the songs unfold like chapters in a book, we usually start with the lyrics, the melodies come later, Riccardo (Morello) and I take care of the melody and then Roberto (Tiranti) arrives with his magic and arrangements. Then my wife and daughter think about the visual part of the work: cover art, videos…

Q: For our readers who have never listened to your music, explain your sound in 5 words?

Ris: I would say that our music Is imaginative, a little crazy, definitely rock, with a certain care for the melody and very cool arrangements.

Q: At what age did you start singing?

ANS: I started at 19, but I decided with my wife to do something on our own only a few years ago.It has been a long time since I started to enter the world of music for fun.

Q: Do you have any upcoming events or a recording in progress right now?

Ris: We are working on our second album, we are quite advanced with the creative process. This time the theme will be the relationship between man and technology,we will take a trip to try to explain the evolution of man from Sapiens to Digitalis. The title should be Transhumanity. Several friends of ours, who are also formidable musicians, will participate.Soon our first single will be released with a friend of ours who is a formidable singer, Silvia Criscenzo.

Q: When and why did you start playing?

ANS: I started singing because I loved Queen songs and Freddie Mercury’s voice, and I saw that some of the songs came out pretty good.

Q: What famous musicians do you admire? How come?

Ris: As I said the first point of reference was Freddie Mercury, the legendary singer of Queen. I have so much admiration and admiration for singers like Robert Plant, Chris Cornell, and Jeff Buckley.I love and inspire myself to bands like Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, David Bowie and many others.

Q: Who was your first teacher? Other teachers?

Ris: My first teacher was Roberto Tiranti, who besides being an amazing teacher, singer and bassist, is also a fantastic composer, arranger and producer. At the moment I study and collaborate with Riccardo Morello, who composes the music with me, my vocal coach is the extraordinary Antonella Suella, who sings with us in several of our songs and always gives us a lot of great advice.

Q: Have you been influenced by old records and tapes? Which?

Ris: There are a lot of old records that have influenced me a lot. I would say that I love all the productions of Queen of the 70s, in particular Queen 2 and A Night at the Opera, of the 80s-90s I like to listen to masterpieces like The Works, A Kind of Magic or Innuendo. I am certainly fond of the first 4 records of Led Zeppelin. I love the first album of King Crimson, an absolute masterpiece. I love Pink Floyd too, I really like The Dark side of the Moon, Wish you were here, Meddle, Animals and The Wall.

Q: Who are your favorite musicians? Groups? CD?

There are a lot of artists that I love even more recently. All the grunge production of the 90s is truly remarkable. Bands like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam have a place in my heart. If I had to choose an album from that period I think I would be undecided between Temple of the dog or Grace by Jeff Buckley.Coming to more recent times, I wanted to mention supergroups of the alternative scene of the early 2000s: I cannot fail to remember the Audioslave, the Queens of the Stone Age, the Foo Fighters or the White Stripes.

Thanks for taking time out of your day:)
