An Interview With Swedish Singer & Songwriter Valie Heart

Q:When you decide it’s time to make a new record, is that more exciting or stressful?

Its very exciting to create a new record. Because i use music to tell a story in my life. And if i leave a story untold. i get trapped. And cant move forward untill i write a song about it. thats how i get outlet for my feelings
so it’s like a creative therapy.

Q: How easily do songs tend to come to you?
everything depend on my feelings and how much i have to tell. and of course what connection i have with my produser.

Q: What’s your motto or the advice you live by?

Society want us to buy more things in order to fit in. Even tho you already have this lipstick in that color. But of course if it’s a different nuance, then it’s okey.(sarcastic)
Our parent have a picture of things you need to be so you try to be a good child and do as good as you can to fit the picture.
Very often people and including myself does things that others want you to do. And it steals the main focus from the things you really want. So you are busy making others happy by yourself. And my motto is “love yourself enough to not crave for anyone’s approval”- by Valie

Q: For our readers who have never heard your music, explain your sound in 5 words?

power, electronic, drama, positive, deep

Q: You write all of your own music; where do you draw inspiration from when you write songs and what’s your favorite part about the process?

yes i create with a producer. And like i said before everything comes from my own stories and feelings. and my favorite part of it is that i can feel free and move on when i song is done. because when i experience things in life i put the story on the shelf and it waits on it’s turn to become a song.

Q:Who are your inspirations?

Ans:i’m very inspired by P!NK and Lady gaga, they show a lot of strength and creativity.

valie Heart

If you had a soundtrack to your life what song/songs would have to be on it?

it would be P!NK with just like fire

Q:Do you have any events coming up or recording going on right now?

I am in a very creative moment right now which allows me to let go of some emotions that i have kept inside.
And i’m very excited about my upcoming releases in february. Working with a very talented producer that allows me express myself the way i want.

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?

well think i have almost had every profession. I have been seller in a big store and then a money exchanger. I think one thing people would never think of me is that i looked like a plastic bag when i worked as a operator at a cookie factor and then on a pharmaceutical factory. So i have been in many different environment. But music have always been by my side.

why did you decide to become an artist?

i have always sang since i was a child. i remember that i had i microphone connected to my stereo so that all the neighbors could hear me. And then i discovered that i could create something good out of my emotions. So music and the writing never left my side and it become very natural to me to be an artist.
