Scream Please by The Used Notes

Q:When you decide it’s time to make a new record, is that more exciting or stressful?

Ans:  Definitely exciting,  I have no idea what will happen musically and where the lyrical inspiration will come from once I sit myself down to write.  I used to get stressed when I planned songs but I abandoned that way of working for a more organic approach.

Q:  How do you shut things out?

Ans:  Distraction is the best method I’ve found through the years.  I guess I do have an intense level of concentration so tend to throw myself into one task completely.

Q: How easily do songs tend to come to you?

Ans :  Fairly easily but it’s rare for a song to appear anywhere near to it’s finished form.  I usually write a song in minutes and edit it for weeks until I’m happy.

Q: What’s your motto or the advice you live by?

Ans:  It’s better to be silent than to say something unkind,  words have power.

Q: What is your favorite song to belt out at the bar/in the car?

Ans:  Song 2 by Blur

Q: For our readers who have never heard your music, explain your sound in 5 words?

Ans:  Rhythmic Soulful Emotive Groovy Pop

Q: You write all of your own music; where do you draw inspiration from when you write songs and what’s your favorite part about the proccess?

ANS:  Inspiration comes mainly from observation of and conversation with other people.  Sometimes it’s obvious who is reflected in the songs but other times it can seem more abstract.

Q:Do you have any events coming up or recording going on right now?

Ans:  Being a studio band there’s no live events.  I guess the release of ‘Scream Please’ on the 14th of May this year is a big milestone as it’s the first ever release and will be the first time the public at large will hear ‘The Used Notes’.

Q: If you had a soundtrack to your life what song/songs would have to be on it?

Ans :  Just one song.  A whole Lotta Love by the Staple Singers.

Q:  What are your fondest musical memories? In your house? In your neighborhood or town?

Ans:  DJing in a small local club and watching reactions as I played songs that were little known or originals to current chart hits. Priceless!

Thanks for taking time out of your day:)
