Meg’s album has since been played on Sirius XM’s Bluesville and radio stations world-wide. Meg independently just released her latest full length album, recorded in Nashville, TN, titled ‘Live and Learn’ on October 29, 2021.

Q: Tell us about your new album?

A: ‘Live and Learn’ consists of 9 songs written/co-written throughout 2020. Like many musicians, I had the opportunity to spend time writing new music, reflecting, and creating throughout the 2020 pandemic – ‘Live and Learn’ focuses on finding your own path and taking chances in life and in love. I recorded the album with producer/musicians Terry Goose Downing and Tom DelRossi, in Nashville, TN.

Q:When you decide it is time to make a new record, is that more exciting or stressful for you?

Answer: Exciting! I am always writing new songs, so it just naturally happens! I really enjoy creating and seeing the songs come to life.

Q: How easily do songs tend to come to you?

Answer: Songs tend to come in waves for me. I’ll have a few months where I’ll write so many new songs – they just flow out and I’ll feel so inspired! But then I’ll have a few months where I don’t write as many new songs, and I might be spending my time working on something else. Whenever the inspiration strikes, I act on it – I can’t force it!

Q: For our readers who have never heard your music, explain your sound?

Answer: For the album “Live and Learn,” it’s a singer-songwriter, guitar-driven album, with influences from classic rock and roots music.

Q: You write or co-write all of your own music; where do you draw inspiration from when you write songs and what is your favorite part about the process?

Answer: I always take inspiration from real life and life experiences. I have to connect with and relate to the song in some way, at least if I’m the one singing it! So everything that I’ve written (for myself) has had at least some connection to a real life experience or something that I was feeling.
My favorite part is performing the finished song & seeing how others react and relate to the song.

Q: At what age did you start playing guitar?

Answer: I was about 9 years old! My mom bought an acoustic guitar – she was going to learn how to play, but never did. I decided I wanted to try and wound up loving it!

Q:Who are your inspirations?

Answer: Susan Tedeschi, Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow – I love seeing strong women songwriters and bandleaders, and feel very inspired by them!

Q: If you could perform with anyone in the future, who would it have to be?

Answer: Anyone mentioned in that previous answer!!

Q:What is your favorite song to sing live?

Answer: My favorite songs off of the new album to perform live would be “Break My Rules” or “You’re The Only One”.

Q:Do you have any events coming up?

Answer: Yes! Lots of shows coming up — my show listings can be found at: www.megwilliamsmusic.com/shows
