An Interview With The Hip Hop Artist Scotty Chams

Q :Tell us about yourself and your music.

I’m a hip hop artist with We The 9. I’m founded We The 9 and have been building a prominent music presence constantly creating and putting out music since I started releasing music late 2015.

Q : How would you describe your sound?

I have a very distinct sound. It’s not like most of the new hip hop music coming out right now. It’s very focused on the lyricism as opposed to the beat. The message is focused on following your passion and waking up to and embracing the reality of life. I am trying to explore and release music in all the sub genres of urban music.

Q : Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.

Making System Failure has been a huge project for me. It is my first official album release and my debut release. It is an old school hip hop album I have worked on for over a year and a half. Most of the songs are influenced by events that have happened in the past two years.

Q : What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?

System Failure releases August 1st. Currently I’ve been working on some features and a mixtape called Make A Life Not A Living. It is a mixtape of chill, R&B music.

Q : What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?

So far the biggest highlight in my career is releasing this album. I have only been making music for 2 years and the majority of that time has been spent making and revising this album. To finally release is a huge deal for me and a major milestone.

Q :Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s) ?

My ideal collaboration would be me Chance The Rapper and Alex Wiley on a track. That would be the dopest thing ever.

Q: Name something random that people do not know about you?

I love to play and am really good at super smash bros.

Q: What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?

That you have to put yourself out there and stay true to your music. Eventually things will pan out if you put in the work.

Q: What can we expect from you in the future?

You can expect project after project. I don’t plan on stopping unless someone stops me.

Q : Anything else you would like to share with our readers?

I will keep making music and getting better. You will see the journey from when I first started to my last project. Let’s change musical history!
