An Interview With Talented Artist Dimitris Keramidakis

Dimitris Keramidakis began his career as a child prodigy, as he has been awarded in international music competitions and has been graduated from the State Conservatory in 1996 after attending piano lessons for only 4 years.

In 1997, he begins to take part in concerts around the world and continues earning scholarships his studies with Roberto Szidon, Ruth Gerald, Mr Loether, G. Shroeder, Milena Mollova, Sarantis Kassaras, Victor Merzhanov.

Somewhere there, he starts to be limited by the narrow boundaries of classical music and feels the need to engrave his path as a creator through the improvised music and electronic technology. He joins the psychoacoustic group of Aristotle University and writes music researching and developing new forms, trends and ways while giving concerts around the world. He has over 2000 of participations in greek and foreign discography, seminars, music for film and theater.

In recent years, apart from producer, composer and solist he has been interested into the combination of traditional songs, mediterannean music and the weastern african culture with the organic sound of the piano, the magic of technology and the freedom of jazz.In 2014 he was awarded for his contribution in music.

When you decide it’s time to make a new record, is that more exciting or stressful?

It is more exciting, as it is a kind of exploration and new things come up every time you listen to the music …

How easily do songs tend to come to you?

If somebody says that inspiration is an easy thing,he is a lier …. Inspiration means a lot of work for so little music …..

For our readers who have never heard your music, explain your sound in 5 words?

It Is a mix of classical, jazz and world music.

 Who are your inspirations?

My wife and daughter, nature and lonliness.

 Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to sing as a career or just advice about careers in general?

if you do not love it more than anything else, don’t do it. Also be unique and find your personal sound.

We have heard your new album and we really loved it. Can you tell us more about it?

it was made by old ideas that i had 6 years ago but with a new approach and the intension of a more modern sound.

Do you attend sessions? What makes a good session?

A good session is the essential of a good moment , a good chemistry between musicians and in the end, good sounding places.
