An Exclusive Interview With Skriptz

Q: If you could perform with anyone, in the future, who would it have to be?

Anyone with passion, however I would love to perform with Chance the Rapper, Post Malone, Swae Lee or Lil yatchy. I think those would be interesting musical accompaniments. I also look for balance of rhythmic chemistry with collaborations. It’s more about energy.

Q: What is you favorite song to belt out at the bar/in the car?

Currently? “ THAT THING FINE AS HELL, CAROLINE YOU DIVINE – (Amine’s song)”

Q: What advice would you give to beginners who are nervous?

Stop thinking. Get present within your body.

Q: What was the first tune(s) you learned?

Lose Yourself- Eminem

Q:When you decide it’s time to make a new record, is that more exciting or stressful?

Why in the world would it be stressful? I’m extremely anti-cortisol, I don’t like stress. That makes work work and not play, that’s not how I view working. The hard work isn’t difficult because it’s self-regenerating positive impetus. The creative process is natural, it always has been fun and flowing for me.

Q: If you had a soundtrack to your life what song/songs would have to be on it?

LIL YATCHY- FOREVER YOUNG
BRYCE VINE- SOUR PATCH KIDS
Mzwètwo – Michael Jackson
Rae Sremmurd – Perplexing Pegasus
It’d be a mix of everything.

Q: How do you balance your music with other obligations – mate, children, job?

I try my best to live in harmony but it’s difficult especially when I have a soul mission that I’m very passionate for. I really get a lot of support from people to push for my music and I wouldn’t be the artist I am today without people pushing me. I get inspired a lot by energy around me.

Q: How do you handle mistakes during a performance?

Keep going, improvise, make your flaws your strengths.

Q: You write all of your own music; where do you draw inspiration from when you write songs and what’s your favorite part about the process?

Well, I love the part where I’m brainstorming and creating, I’m sitting down free-styling, losing myself and writing down ideas. That’s my favorite part.

Q: For our readers who have never heard your music, explain your sound in 5 words?
