A Latest Conversation With Kendra Black

Kendra Black is a Pop artist and dancer based in New York City.

She recently released single “Air Pack Jet” from her upcoming album “The Edge” produced by L.A. production team Trend Def Studios and co-written with Nick Nittoli and Lachi, featuring Snoop Dogg on the single ‘Rude’.

Kendra performed in France, Monte-Carlo, Italy,  Egypt, U.S. and the Caribbean, and trained with teachers from the Music Conservatory of Cannes (France), and from The Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. Upon moving to New York, she also trained with Justin Stoney at New York Vocal Coaching, and with A&R Meghan Cress at Voice Academy NYC.

Some of her most recent collaborations include Nickelodeon TV Channel as well as numerous roles in New York Film Academy productions.

Q: For our readers who have never heard your music, explain your sound in 5 words?

Ans: Fresh, energetic, vibrant, sexy, catchy

Q: How  was it shooting the music video to the latest single from your album The Edge, “Air Pack Jet?”

Ans: The recording process was a really good experience, I had the pleasure of working with with video director and producer Matthew Alvero and teamed up with an amazing group of friends to create a fun house party vibe.

Q:  What are you trying to tell the world with “Air Pack Jet?”

ANS: ‘Air Pack Jet’ is all about stepping into the game, stepping into the business and hustling until you make it

Q: What’s your motto you live by?

Ans: Stay true to yourself and shine your light

Q:  What are some of your fondest memories on stage or in the audio?

Ans: My first recording sessions in LA were definitely the highlight of the recording/production process. It felt so great to connect with such acclaimed producers

Q:  You started as a dancer. What made you switch to focus on music?

Ans: I’ve always been pursuing both dance and music together, but as I grow, I feel more like myself while singing rather than dancing. I still dance up to this date, and it’s something I’ll never stop doing.

Q:  You grew up in Italy before moving to NYC to pursue music and dance. How is the pop scene different here than from Italy?

Ans: Although I officially moved out of Italy when I was 12, I’ve keep traveling back and forth to connect with family and to perform. In my experience the italian pop scene is based more on variety rather than focusing too much on trends.

Q:  Describe your experience working with Snoop Dogg and the acclaimed songwriters and producers who worked with you on The Edge.

Ans: It was such a blessing to team up with such incredible celebrities! We recorded and produced my album ‘The Edge’  together with Mike Gonsolin, Nick Nittoli, and Lachi, and the final product really exceeded my expectations!

Q: Do you have any advice for aspiring young singers looking to get to where you are as quickly as you have?

Ans : Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t make it. Stay true to your art, stay true to yourself, and never be afraid of representing something ‘different’ or ‘new.’

Q: What’s next for Kendra Black?
